Paid channels and subscriptions
A Publicasta author plan and a reader subscription to a channel are different purchases. Following a channel for free does not unlock paid articles.
For authors
Open your channel settings and Monetization, then connect Stripe. Stripe collects the country, business details, identity verification and payout details and determines eligibility. Return to Publicasta and refresh the status. Payments and payouts must be ready before you enable sales.
Set your monthly price in EUR, USD or GBP, save it, prepare the payment link and enable monetization when the channel is ready. Reader payments go to your connected Stripe account. Manage payments and payouts in your Stripe Dashboard.
In a paid channel, articles are paid by default. Put a subscriber preview break after the public introduction in every published paid translation. Mark individual articles as free when everyone should be able to read them. One reader subscription covers the channel, not a single article.
Fees and author plans
Paid channels are available on Basic, Plus and Pro. Publicasta takes 10% on Basic, 7% on Plus and 5% on Pro from reader payments. Stripe fees are separate and are charged to the author’s connected account; check your Stripe pricing for payment processing, Billing and other applicable services.
The commission follows the author’s effective Publicasta plan. After a plan change takes effect and commission synchronization completes, the new rate applies to future payments, including renewals of existing subscriptions. Earlier payments are not recalculated.
Turning off monetization opens articles immediately and stops future renewals. It does not automatically refund earlier payments. Cancelling an unfinished Stripe setup does not delete the Stripe account.
For readers
Sign in to Publicasta, open a paid article and subscribe to its channel through Stripe. The author sets the monthly price. There is no trial period. Access opens after payment is confirmed, for the account used to start checkout.
Open My feed → Paid subscriptions to see access dates and stop renewal. Cancellation stops future charges and keeps access until the end of the paid period. A refund or payment dispute ends paid access when the event is processed.
Following a channel and buying a paid subscription are independent. Paying for Publicasta Plus or Pro as an author does not include subscriptions to other authors’ channels.
Reader payments and refunds
The channel author is the seller identified at checkout. Contact the seller about a channel-payment refund; Publicasta support can help identify the payment. Refund rules for Publicasta’s own author plans are not an automatic refund promise for channel subscriptions. Applicable statutory rights are unaffected.
