Can Prompting AI Correctly Make You Rich?
What if we merely prompted AI to teach us what treasures have been found near our homes?

What if finding gold, valuable gemstones, rare minerals, or even forgotten treasures was partly a matter of asking the right questions?
Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly useful research tool. One interesting application is using AI to investigate the history and geology of local areas to identify places where valuable natural resources have previously been discovered.
Think of it as a treasure-hunting game, with AI serving as your research assistant.
1. The Game: Ask AI Where the Money Is
Start by giving AI your city, county, or region. Then ask increasingly specific questions.
For example:
Where has gold historically been discovered within 50 miles of my location?
Which rivers and streams have documented gold deposits?
Where have valuable gemstones, quartz, sapphires, or other minerals been found?
Are there historical mining sites with documented discoveries?
Which minerals in my region have commercial value?
Are there public lands where recreational prospecting is legally permitted?
What inexpensive equipment would help me investigate these locations?
The objective is to narrow down the possibilities using historical records, geological surveys, mining reports, and publicly available information.
2. A Real-Life Example: $1 Million in Gold Found in Florida
In October 2025, the Associated Press reported that divers working off Florida's Atlantic coast discovered more than 1,000 gold and silver coins from a Spanish shipwreck.
The estimated value? Approximately $1 million.
The coins came from a Spanish fleet that sank during a hurricane in 1715 while transporting gold, silver, and jewels.
The discovery demonstrates that historically documented locations can continue producing valuable discoveries centuries later.

3. Oregon: What Could Be Hiding in Your Backyard?
Consider someone living in Oregon.
Instead of randomly searching for gold, they could ask AI to investigate historical gold discoveries, placer deposits, mining districts, and geological surveys in their surrounding counties.
They could then investigate whether particular locations are accessible and legally open to recreational prospecting.
The Bureau of Land Management provides guidance on recreational gold panning and mining claims. On qualifying BLM land, basic gold panning may be allowed without a special permit, unless specifically prohibited. Existing claims and land restrictions must be checked first.

4. The Perfect AI Prompt
Here is a prompt anyone can copy:
"Act as a geological research assistant and historical mining researcher. Investigate my local area and identify documented historical discoveries of gold, silver, gemstones, rare minerals, and other commercially valuable natural resources within 50 miles. Prioritize locations supported by geological surveys, historical mining records, and government documentation. Identify which locations are on public land, explain access restrictions and existing mining claims, and suggest affordable legal recreational prospecting opportunities. Include source links and distinguish confirmed discoveries from speculation."
5. Could This Actually Make Someone Rich?
Potentially, but there are no guarantees.
AI cannot see underground, verify that a deposit remains undiscovered, or establish ownership rights. A historical gold discovery does not mean that gold is still available to collect.
However, AI can help people investigate opportunities they might otherwise overlook.
A person could discover a promising recreational prospecting area, locate valuable minerals, identify historical collectibles, or even research an opportunity to acquire mineral rights.
The important distinction is between finding evidence of a resource and proving that it can legally and economically be recovered.
The Chronalis Idea
What if we made geological research accessible to everyone?
Instead of requiring expensive consultants or specialized knowledge, people could use AI to investigate their surroundings, learn about local resources, and explore legitimate economic opportunities.
Sometimes the most valuable question isn't what you can buy.
It's what already exists around you that you haven't thought to look for.
